Lyric Family Favorites: August 20
Two years before he composed his first opera, Giuseppe Verdi wrote "La seduzione” (The seduction), a gentle melody with a tragic story in which an innocent young girl is seduced and betrayed. With Lyric’s new music director, Enrique Mazzola, at the piano, bass-baritone David Weigel, a Ryan Opera Center alumnus, brings great emotional depth to this sad and beautiful song. If this piece moves you, don’t miss Verdi’s first great masterpiece Macbeth with Maestro Mazzola on the podium, Lyric’s riveting season opener.
