Lyric Opera of Chicago appoints new leader
Sylvia Neil, Chair, and the Board of Directors of Lyric Opera of Chicago today announce the appointment of accomplished, versatile arts administrator John Mangum as the institution’s fifth General Director, President & CEO. He will start at Lyric in Fall 2024 at a date to be announced.

Lyric’s annual free concert, Sunday in the Park with Lyric, takes place on August 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park and promises an opportunity to embrace the end of summer with a fun-filled night of music.

What you need to know about Verdi's Rigoletto
Driven by passion, revenge, and obsession, Giuseppe Verdi’s classic tragedy Rigoletto arrives on the stage of Lyric Opera of Chicago from September 14 to October 6, 2024, ushering in the start of Chicago’s cultural season. Conducted by Lyric’s Music Director Enrique Mazzola, a much-acclaimed Verdian, and directed by Juilliard’s Mary Birnbaum in her Lyric debut, this production opens the Lyric season with a vengeance.
