Lyric Music & More: June 8

This is a very exciting week for Broadway fans, with The New Classics: Songs from the New Golden Age of Musical Theater premiering this Thursday. There are so many incredible artists in this virtual cabaret, including Music Director David Chase and singers Gavin Creel, Nikki Renée Daniels, Norm Lewis, Amanda Castro, Jenn Gambatese, Jo Lampert, and Heath Saunders.

With a program of songs that will delight any Broadway lover, this is a performance you won’t want to miss. See how the talented singers and musicians captured the intimate feel of a cabaret show with behind-the-scenes photos, and mark your calendar for the premiere on June 10 at 7:00pm CT.

Announcing Pagliacci

Lyric has just announced the upcoming virtual staged performance of Pagliacci premiering in August 2021. The production is led by Music Director Enrique Mazzola and a powerhouse cast including Russell Thomas, Ailyn Pérez, Lucas Meachem, Quinn Kelsey, and Eric Ferring with members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

Our Time Is Now

This moving performance, curated by violinist Jennifer Koh and commissioned by Lincoln Center, addresses the ongoing trauma borne by New York City’s Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) and Black communities, and their shared response of creative excellence in the face of adversity.

Sound Bites: Mario Rojas
