Lyric Music & More: May 25

For many, today is a day of solemn remembrance, the anniversary of the death of George Floyd. Reflecting on these events can be a painful reminder of the difficult year we’ve had and the issues we continue to face as a society. While no song can fully heal these wounds, we hope that through music, you may find some peace as you move through the days ahead. In that spirit, we share Ryan Opera Center alumna Whitney Morrison singing "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and "My Tribute" from the Lyric virtual concert Lawrence Brownlee & Friends: The Next Chapter

Plus, watch the animated children’s video Exquisite from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, explore the moving stories of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community as told through song, listen to Ailyn Pérez’s playlist, and learn more about the opera Florencia en el Amazonas.

CSO for Kids: Exquisite

Part of Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s CSO for Kids series, Exquisite brings to life the story of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks with illustrations by Cozbi A. Cabrera and music by Florence Price, performed by musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
