Lyric Family Favorites: September 4

The members of this year’s Ryan Opera Center Ensemble have certainly had one of the most challenging experiences in the program’s history. Many of the coachings, rehearsals, and performances have taken place in individual members’ homes and over video calls, requiring an extra level of patience and perseverance. But hard work pays off, and you can now hear the members in a series of solo, duo, and trio performances, broadcast on 98.7WFMT throughout the opera season. Tune in this Sunday, September 6 at 7:00pm for the first broadcast of the WFMT Recital Series, featuring mezzo-soprano Katherine Beck and baritone Ricardo José Rivera singing songs by Florence Price, Hugo Wolf, Carlos Guastavino, H. Leslie Adams, and more, with Ryan Opera Center pianist Chris Reynolds.

I adore art…when I am alone with my notes, my heart pounds and the tears stream from my eyes, and my emotion and my joys are too much to bear.
