Lyric Music & More: June 29

Just over two weeks ago we had the pleasure of experiencing a virtual cabaret with some of the biggest Broadway stars. For those of us who have sorely missed the thrill of live musical theater, The New Classics: Songs from the New Golden Age of Musical Theater was like a breath of fresh air. One of the highlights was Norm Lewis’s performance of the stirring soliloquy “Stars” from the hit musical Les Misérables, in which the implacable, self-righteous Javert asserts that just as surely as the stars keep watch at night, he will stop at nothing to find Valjean. Watch this memorable clip, and then check out the full performance, available now to stream on demand.

Plus, listen to new Lyric Audio Streaming releases, watch Lawrence Brownlee & Friends: The Next Chapter while you still can, see which big chorus number is pulling ahead in The Great Verdi Chorus Showdown, and hear what Lyric leadership, staff, and artists have to say about the upcoming season.

It’s been so gratifying to bring you this content each week. As the 2020/21 season draws to a close, our staff is getting ready to welcome you back to the opera house in September for live performances. You can look forward to a monthly Lyric Music & More email instead of receiving one each week. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube so that you don't miss a note.
