Kayleigh Decker

Mezzo-soprano Kayleigh Decker, a first-year Ryan Opera Center member, hails from Woodstock, Maryland and is an alumna of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory. In the spring of 2018, Decker was also a Schwab Vocal Rising Star with Caramoor and the New York Festival of Song. She is a former young artist at The Glimmerglass Festival (Gertie/Oklahoma!, Scarlet/Ben Moore’s Robin Hood, world premiere), Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Opera Neo (Cherubino/The Marriage of Figaro), and Utah Festival Opera. She has also been a participant in the Houston Grand Opera Young Artists Vocal Academy. Decker’s time in Cincinnati included the title role/Ariodante, the Fox /The Cunning Little Vixen, Prince Charming/Cendrillon, and Idamante/Idomeneo, all with CCM Opera. The mezzo has appeared with Queen City Opera, Opera Fusion, Cincinnati Chamber Opera, Oberlin Opera Theatre, and the St. Louis Symphony. In 2015 she sang Sarah/Paul Davies’s Carlota (world premiere) at the Mexican Heritage Center in San José, California. Among Decker’s many honors are first place in the Three Arts Scholarship Fund Competition and Cincinnati’s Macdowell Society Scholarship Award. She will appear at Lyric this season as the Second Cretan Woman/Idomeneo(debut) and Dorothée/Cendrillon, while also understudying roles in Il trovatore, Cendrillon, and La traviata.
