Opening Night Opera Ball – Celebrating 65 Years of Grand Opera

Enjoy an evening of laughter and romance with The Barber of Seville and Opera Ball!

Lyric Opera of Chicago’s sixty-fifth season opens with a sparkling romantic comedy on Saturday, September 28, and we want you to be there! The Barber of Seville returns in the delightful original Lyric production created by the multi-Tony Award-winning team of Rob Ashford, Scott Pask, Catherine Zuber, and Howard Harrison.

The brilliant international stars include Adam Plachetka as clever Figaro, Marianne Crebassa as the spirited Rosina, Lawrence Brownlee as the amorous Count Almaviva, Alessandro Corbelli as the pompous Doctor Bartolo, and Krzysztof Bączyk as the conniving Basilio. Music Director Sir Andrew Davis conducts the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus (prepared by chorus master Michael Black).

Join us on the red carpet as you enter the beautiful, historic Lyric Opera House. Mingle with your fellow opera lovers in the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Grand Foyer before the curtain rises on The Barber of Seville

Lyric patrons attending the Opening Night performance are also invited to attend Opera Ball, hosted by Women’s Board Co-Chairs Mrs. James J. O’Connor and Elizabeth O’Connor Cole. Need we say more about this momentous milestone of Lyric history? Add your ticket to Opera Ball for only $500. Click here for reservations and information, or call 312.827.5682.

After the curtain falls, guests with tickets for Opera Ball will make their way to the Hilton Chicago, home to this gala celebration for over fifty years, for an elegant evening of cocktails, dinner, and dancing to live music by the Stu Hirsh Orchestra. Experience the atmosphere and flavors of Seville as you celebrate the opening of another season of grand opera alongside the stars of the production. Best of all, you can enjoy this glamorous black-tie affair with the knowledge that your generous support helps to make every production on our stage possible.
