What do you get when you cross a world-renowned, Tony-nominated artist with a six-time Tony Award-winning musical? Surefire theatrical magic - and that's what audiences can expect this December when opera superstar Renée Fleming, Alex Jennings (Netflix’s The Crown) and rising star Solea Pfeiffer (Almost Famous) bring the ravishing musical The Light in the Piazza to Lyric Opera House!

This anticipated new production is directed by multiple Olivier Award-winning director Daniel Evans. Renée Fleming, who was Tony-nominated for her role as Nettie Fowler in Carousel on Broadway last season, stars as Margaret Johnson in this beloved piece that features "the most intensely romantic score of any musical since West Side Story" (New York Times). Featuring the Lyric Opera Orchestra conducted by Kimberly Grigsby, The Light in the Piazza tells a story that will sweep you off your feet as it transports you to beautiful, sun-drenched Florence.

The Story: Florence. Summer 1953. As American Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara take in the city's wonders, a fateful gust of wind whisks Clara's hat into the hands of local dreamer Fabrizio Naccarelli... and it's amore at first sight. But Clara isn't quite what she appears, and soon they must all confront a secret that's been kept in the shadows for far too long.

Don't miss this acclaimed Broadway musical about the life-changing thrill of first love in this limited engagement at the Lyric Opera House!

Presented by special arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe. Produced by arrangement with Turner Entertainment Co. owner of the original motion picture "Light in The Piazza". Based on the Novel by Elizabeth Spencer.
