Pre-Opera Talks

Pre-Opera Talks at Lyric Opera of Chicago

Enjoy Free Talks Before Every Opera Performance

Your ticket to the opera is also a ticket to learn more about the fascinating background of each Lyric production. Join us in the theater one hour before the curtain rises for a free, 30-minute preview talk about the opera. Learn about the composer, the themes within the music and drama, and overall production. Enhance your opera-going experience and mingle with your fellow operagoers!

Pre-opera talks are offered before every performance and take place on the main floor of the Ardis Krainik Theatre in the Lyric Opera House.

Seating is unreserved, but a ticket for that day’s performance is required. Doors open approximately 15 minutes before the start of the talks, which begin an hour before each performance.

There is no pre-opera lecture for opening night, special events, or musical performances.
