The Fund for the Love of Lyric

Give For the Love of Lyric and your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar

For the Love of Lyric. For the music to endure. For all of us to be together again.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, Lyric has made the painful decision to cancel opera performances in the first half of the 2020/21 Season. This includes the loss of the North American premiere of Lessons in Love and Violence, new-to-Chicago productions of Tosca and Attila, and the return of the beloved double-bill of Cavalleria rusticana & Pagliacci.

However, while our stage is dark, artistic work continues. During this extended intermission, we are committed to:
  • Presenting an exciting slate of events, virtual concerts, and live performance formats that keep our artists and audiences safe;

#GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday is a social movement dedicated to celebrating how everyday acts of generosity by ordinary people make extraordinary things happen. This year, Giving Tuesday will take place on December 1. When you make a gift to Lyric Opera of Chicago in support of #GivingTuesday we'll put your donation to work presenting virtual concerts, generating a wide range of online content for opera lovers, showcasing the talents of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center Ensemble, and sharing educational resources for adults and children to enjoy and learn at home. Additionally, we are exploring bold—and safe—avenues for creating opera during this time.

Without ticket revenue, charitable contributions are even more vital to sustaining our company through this difficult time. This is YOUR Lyric. Your commitment is what will pull Lyric through this pause and usher us back to the stage next season. Thank you!

Today, for this work to continue, we are asking you to make a financial commitment to Lyric. Donate the value of your canceled performance tickets or make a tax-deductible contribution to The Fund for the Love of Lyric, and your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the effect your donation will make in our recovery.

MAKE A CONTRIBUTION

To make your commitment, give online through our secure website, call Lyric’s Development office at 312.827.3500, or mail your gift to Lyric Opera of Chicago, 20 N Wacker Dr Ste 860, Chicago, IL 60606.

Donor advised fund

You can quickly and easily recommend a gift for Lyric from your donor-advised fund through DAF  Direct. DAF Direct makes it easier to support your favorite charities by giving directly from your donor-advised fund.

What is a DAF?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably-incline individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock and in some cases, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.
