We invite you to become part of a conversation that makes opera more than just a performance, but a vital reflection of our shared human experience. Dr. Elinor Olin will moderate this discussion as we excavate the legend of Don Giovanni and the cultural implications of its Spanish literary roots. The conversation will explore Mozart's timeless critique of social inequality, diving deep into how the mechanisms of modern-day privilege can manipulate the legal system while leaving the vulnerable exposed. From its origins as a cautionary tale to its contemporary relevance as a searing psychological and systemic critique, the panel will unmask the enduring power dynamics that make Don Giovanni an unshakeable mirror to our own world.

Ryan Opera Center Ensemble members bass-baritone Lin Fan and pianist Myungseo Kim will perform a selection from the opera.

Light bites reception will start at 6:00 p.m. and the performance and discussion will begin at 7:00 p.m.
