Anthony Reed


First-year bass Anthony Reed is making his mark on stages throughout North America. Most recently Mr. Reed was seen at Wolf Trap Opera as Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette. A former Adler Fellow with the San Francisco Opera, his highlights on stage there include King of Egypt (Aida), Speaker (Die Zauberflöte), and Dottore Grenvil (La traviata), among others. Additionally, his repertory comprises of Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), and Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) to name a few. He has performed with Grammy award winning symphonies, and some of the world's most esteemed conductors including Nicola Luisotti, and Donald Runnicles. He is an alumnus of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Merola Opera Program.

In 2019/20 he sings Prison Guard #2/Dead Man Walking, Commissioner/Madama Butterfly, and Narumoff/The Queen of Spades, while also understudying Wurm/Luisa Miller, Commendatore/Don Giovanni, Bonze/Madama Butterfly, Sourin/The Queen of Spades, Fafner/Das Rheingold, and Fafner/Siegfried.
