Get Set for a Great Evening at Millennium Park!

We look forward to welcoming you to the annual “Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park” free concert! Be at the beautiful Pritzker Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 8, for a glorious evening of operatic highlights.

The program will include excerpts from seven operas that are part of the 2017/18 Lyric season: Gluck’s exquisite Orphée et Eurydice, Verdi’s powerful Rigoletto, Wagner’s magnificent Die Walküre, Bizet’s gorgeous The Pearl Fishers, Puccini’s spectacular Turandot, Bellini’s captivating I puritani, and Gounod’s romantic Faust. There will also be wonderful arias from other Lyric favorites:  Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and Massenet’s Werther.

On the podium will be the company’s extraordinary music director, Sir Andrew Davis, leading the world-renowned Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Featured will be some of Lyric’s most thrilling singers, many of whom will be starring onstage at the Lyric Opera House this season.

Among the artists will be Ryan Opera Center alumni Matthew Polenzani and Quinn Kelsey – two of the stars of Lyric’s Rigoletto (Matthew will also be with us for The Pearl Fishers), Andriana Chuchman (Orphée et Eurydice), and Anthony Clark Evans (I puritani). The other two Orphée principals, Dmitry Korchak and Lauren Snouffer, will also appear on this program, along with Ryan Opera Center alumna J’Nai Bridges, Eric Owens (Die Walküre), Janai Brugger (Turandot), and current Ryan Opera Center member Emmett O’Hanlon (Faust).

It’s going to be a truly memorable evening. Pack a picnic and see you at the Park!

For those who can’t make it to downtown Chicago that evening, the “Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park” free concert will be aired live on 98.7WFMT and live-streamed on wfmt.com beginning at 7:15pm.
