Lyric Family Favorites: June 26
Virtually all of us have made changes in our lives over the past few months, adapting to our new circumstances. As the new year begins for the supremely talented incoming class of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, these changes come with the arrival of a brand-new job, with a new set of colleagues and rehearsals. This week we take a look at how they are settling into their new roles in unexpected ways.
Now with even more ways to enjoy opera from home, you can stay safe, connected, and entertained without donning a mask. Watch an interview with tenor Lawrence Brownlee and bass Soloman Howard, tune in to 98.7WFMT for full performance broadcasts from Lyric’s 2017/18 Season, and check out the many livestream opportunities available over the next week.
Marianne Crebassa sings the famous aria
"Una voce poco fa"
Watch mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa take on the notoriously difficult aria in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, a beautiful example of coloratura singing. In this scene, Rosina has just heard a voice serenading her; it was her love, Lindoro, and she swears she will win his affection.
Host Lawrence Brownlee and guest Soloman Howard share their thoughts (and some laughs) on a variety of subjects.
The Sitdown with LB and Soloman Howard
In the latest post from Lyric favorite Lawrence Brownlee’s The Sitdown with LB video series, he interviewed Soloman Howard, who made his Lyric debut last fall in Luisa Miller. Listen to their wide-ranging conversation about the importance of mentorship, fashion, careers, and what it meant to perform at Lyric’s Lawrence Brownlee and Friends concert in October. And don’t forget to tune in on Sunday for Larry’s interview with J’Nai Bridges!
