Second Nature New Opera for Families – Free!Saturday, October 17 at 2pm at Francis W. Parker School
Lyric Unlimited's new opera for families with children ages 7 to 12, Second Nature, from American composer Matthew Aucoin, enjoyed four world-premiere performances at Lincoln Park Zoo in August. The Chicago Tribune lauded the opera as “absorbing and inventive” and “full of whimsical touches.”
Set in a future when humans have retreated from nature because of the deteriorating environment, this 45-minute opera tells the story of two inquisitive and courageous youths who decide to leave the safety of their artificial habitat and work to heal the planet.
Chicago-area families have another chance to see this exciting new work this fall on Saturday, October 17 at 2pm. Tickets are free, but reserved general admission seating is required in advance. Join us for this family program!
