Don’t Miss Your Free 2017/18 Subscriber Preview: Tuesday, February 7


If you are a Lyric season package holder, have you reserved your free tickets to Lyric’s 2017/18 Season Preview event next week? On Tuesday, February 7, from 6-7:30pm, join General Director Anthony Freud, Sir Andrew Davis, and WFMT’s Carl Grapentine at the Civic Opera House and be among the first to hear what next season will hold, straight from Lyric’s leadership. You’ll hear a brief performance by tenor Russell Thomas, star of Norma, and enjoy complimentary wine. (Doors open at 5:30pm!)

Harris Theater’s intimate Beyond the Aria recital series, in association with Lyric Unlimited, continues this season. Join some of Lyric’s favorite voices with pianist Craig Terry, Ryan Opera Center music director and Beyond the Aria artistic director. The next performance is on February 21 at 7:30pm and features tenor Russell Thomas and mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong from Norma with bass Patrick Guetti of the Ryan Opera Center Ensemble.

Post-Performance Artist Meet and Greet with the Stars


Fans have a chance to stay after the performance to meet the stars and get their autographs at Lyric’s post-show "Meet the Artist" events this season. Whether you’re attending the performance that day, or whether you want to just stop by the Opera House for the event in the lobby, we look forward to welcoming you. CDs will be available for sale at select events, but no purchase is necessary to meet and greet or get an autograph with the stars of the stage!

No Tenors Allowed: A Fundraiser for the Ryan Opera Center

On Monday, February 27, The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center will be holding its second annual fundraising event — No Tenors Allowed — at The Casino Club of Chicago. Current Ensemble baritones and basses will join esteemed alumnus Christian Van Horn and Ryan Opera Center music director Craig Terry in an unforgettable musical program full of laughter, beautiful singing, and surprises.
