Myungseo Kim

Pianist

A pianist and coach in her first year with the Ryan Opera Center, Kim will serve on the music staff for La traviata in Lyric‘s 2026/27 Season. A native of Daegu, South Korea, she spent last summer as an Opera Coach Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival, where she participated in Così fan tutte, conducted by Patrick Summers and directed by Renée Fleming, and was featured as a solo pianist in the Spotlight Recital Series. She also served as a Vocal Collaboration Teaching Fellow at Opera San Antonio. With Opera Grand Rapids, she has worked as pianist/coach for Stuck Elevator, performed in Opera is Lit, and appeared as the competition pianist for the VanderLaan Prize. Her chamber music activities include performing as a member of the Verdehr Trio Fellowship and participating in the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Advanced Piano Trio Program. Kim earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Michigan State University.
