Edward Harrison

Ed Harrison was appointed Principal Timpanist of the Lyric Opera Orchestra by Sir Andrew Davis. Previous to that he performed in the percussion section under Bruno Bartoletti. He has been a soloist with the Chicago Symphony, Czech National Orchestra, Grant Park Orchestra, Chicago Sinfonietta, CYSO, and Caracas Philharmonic. Mr. Harrison has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, London/Decca, ProArte/Fanfare, Delmark, A and R, Albany, Cedille Records, and CSO Resound and has performed on multiple Grammy-winning recordings.

Ed Harrison has a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Vic Firth. In addition to orchestral timpani and percussion, Ed studied jazz vibraphone with Gary Burton through the Berklee School of Music.
