Praised by Opera News for her “power and dark hued radiance,” Cara Collins is quickly gaining attention as a rising soprano. In the world premiere of If I Were You by the acclaimed team of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer, Collins created the lead role of Brittomara. Other notable roles include Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel) at Palm Beach Opera, Tisbe (La Cenerentola) and Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at the Northern Lights Music Festival, and Flora (La Traviata) at Opera Naples among others. On the concert stage, Collins has most recently appeared as a guest soloist with the Amarillo Symphony, under the baton of Peter Bay, for Handel’s Messiah. Her training has included prestigious young artist residencies at Palm Beach Opera, The Merola Opera Program in San Francisco, Sarasota Opera, Opera on the James, and Opera North.
