Luca Salsi

Baritone

The Italian baritone is a star of the Metropolitan Opera, LA Opera, and Washington National Opera; La Scala, all the other major Italian houses; Munich’s Bavarian State Opera, London’s Royal Opera House, the Teatro Real Madrid, and the Berlin State Opera; and the Salzburg Festival and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, invariably working with today’s most eminent conductors and directors. In Italy in recent seasons Salsi has opened La Scala (Andrea Chénier and Tosca), Parma’s Verdi Festival (Macbeth), and the Teatro La Fenice (Macbeth), while also appearing in Florence (Macbeth), Naples (Un ballo in maschera), and Verona (Il trovatore). He has also starred at the Met (Il trovatoreLucia di Lammermoor, Luisa Miller); the Opéra National de Paris (La traviata, Tosca); the Vienna State Opera (Nabucco, Andrea Chénier); the Salzburg Festival (Simon Boccanegra); the Teatro Real Madrid Don Carlo). The baritone debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic as Iago/Otello and has also appeared in recital onstage at La Scala.
