Director

The director/designer/writer’s work includes films and production that continue to explore the merger of film, television, and opera.  He is the new Artistic Director and Chief Creative Officer of Long Beach Opera and Creative Director for Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s digital content, directing 16 short films with dozens of composers’ works inspiring episodic visuals in a new orchestralseries called Close Quarters. He has recently devised and directed two projects with Boston Lyric Opera: a new animated feature-length film of Philip Glass’s Edgar Allan Poe opera The Fall of the House of Usher and the world premiere of desert in, an original television series with Darrah as director and co-creator with composer Ellen Reid and screenwriter Christopher Oscar Peña. Darrah producer, production designer, and screenwriter for Opera Philadelphia’s new film adaptation of composer David T. Little’s Soldier Songs by David T. Little. Darrah is currently in post-production fo his new film of Poulenc’s La voix humaine, starring soprano Patricia Racette.
