42nd Street Celebration has been canceled

In order to heed social distancing recommendations and continue to support the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois in controlling the spread of COVID-19, Lyric’s annual Broadway production of 42nd Street and the Musical Celebration scheduled for May 30, 2020 have been postponed.

Though we are deeply disappointed to postpone the production, we are happy to announce that we have rescheduled 42nd Street including the Musical Celebration for the spring of our 2021/22 Season. We will still be able to transport you to the Big Apple for dinner and cocktails, followed by the U.S. debut of the large-scale production from Théâtre du Châtelet, concluding with an After Party with the cast. The date of the 42nd Street Celebration in 2022 is not yet determined.

The Heroes' Fund

All reservations donated back to Lyric will be included in The Heroes’ Fund. Lyric’s Board of Directors Chair-Elect and Development Chair, Sylvia Neil, along with her husband, Dan Fischel, have established The Heroes’ Fund, which will match contributions made to Lyric dollar-for-dollar during this trying time. We are incredibly grateful for this remarkable show of leadership and support, and the many patrons who have already donated their tickets in light of the cancellation of our 2019/20 Spring productions.

If you currently have a reservation, a member of Lyric’s Development staff will contact you to discuss how you would like to handle your current 42nd Street Celebration reservation.

Please call the Boards Office at 312.827.5676 or email boards@lyricopera.org for more information.
