Bio

Ann Toomey

A native of Shelby Township, Michigan and second-year Ensemble member, soprano Ann Toomey recently completed her master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her performances there included Fiordiligi/Così fan tutte, Boonyi/Jack Perla’s new opera Shalimar the Clown (studio production), and soprano soloist/Brahms’s A German Requiem. She was a member of the Gerdine Young Artist program at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2015, singing Gabrielle/La rondine and understudying the title role/Tobias Picker’s Emmeline. The soprano holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where she was heard as Despina/Così fan tutte, Nella/Gianni Schicchi, and soprano soloist in both Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass. Toomey was a 2016 national semifinalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and an award recipient in the 2015 Corbett Opera Scholarship Competition at UCC-CM. Concert engagements include the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, performing excerpts from Walton’s Troilus and Cressida and Verdi’s Falstaff. Last season at Lyric Opera she was featured in Die Zauberflöte.
