Lyric Unlimited serves elementary through high school students and teachers in a variety of ways, including school residency programs, teacher workshops, backstage tours, and special performances. School-based programming sparks student's intellectual curiosity and creativity, encouraging higher levels of learning, teamwork, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and social growth.

Opera in the Neighborhoods

Opera in the Neighborhoods Live performances of youth-focused operas in neighborhood venues throughout the Chicago area.
  • For grades 3-6
  • 45 minutes long, plus Q&A with the cast afterwards
  • No admission charge; suggested donation $65 per classroom
  • October 17 – November 18; performances at 10am and 12pm
  • Bus scholarships available to qualifying CPS schools

In-School Opera Residencies

In-School Opera Residencies Lyric teaching artists partner with classroom teachers to create custom learning experiences that support both arts and academic learning goals.
  • For grades 1-12
  • 12 and 18 week elementary residencies
  • 4 and 30 week secondary residencies
  • Cost varies by program
  • Free for Chicago Public Schools (limited availability, application required)
