Share What Opera Is To You...

Do you find opera “exciting” or “powerful”?

Whenever you hear it, does it make you feel “alive” or “fierce” or “happy”?

Here’s what some of your fellow patrons recently told us about what draws them to opera and inspires them to support Lyric. Share your word with us here and your response could be featured in an upcoming communication or highlighted in the opera house. We can’t wait to see what word you pick!

What does opera mean to you?
Opera is JOY! Since becoming a subscriber in 2007, I have experienced great joy when I come to the opera house and see the exhilarating presentations of this magical and comprehensive art form.

What are you looking forward to at Lyric?
I am so excited to see my very first Ring Cycle in 2020. I am making big plans for that amazing experience.

Lyric patron since 2017

What does opera mean to you?
Opera is PARADISE. When I listen to opera, I am transfixed and blissfully happy. To hear music is to know what is divine and to embrace humanity through the beauty of its expression.

What are you looking forward to at Lyric?

This opera season, I am most excited about Verdi's La traviata because I will be seeing this enduring classic for the first time and I know I can depend on Lyric to ensure a brilliant introduction.

Lyric patron since 1995

What does opera mean to you?
Opera is EXPANSIVE. It introduces new lands, new languages, history, and art. It presents the dynamic of human relations, across the spectrum of possibility.

What are you looking forward to at Lyric?

I am looking forward to Lyric’s production of West Side Story! In 1986, I took on the role of “Glad Hand” in the University of Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s College production, so the work is an old friend.
