I write today to you from Brussels, where I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my fellow trip participants. A busy schedule will engage our minds and hearts over the next couple of days and we will look forward to sharing this trip with all of you.
The Board of Directors Annual Meeting meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at the Lyric Opera House. This year’s event will showcase our own Opera House, encourage greater participation by donors by offering the event at a lower price point, and allow donors to experience the the Ardis Krainik Theatre from a new perspective.
On Friday, May 10, 470 guests attended the West Side Story Celebration at Lyric Opera. The night started with a lovely cocktail party, followed by a Puerto Rican-themed dinner and a spectacular production of West Side Story, which has received excellent reviews. The guests enjoyed the incredible voices and the amazing dancing in the production.
In April, I travelled to Napa Valley as part of the 2018 Wine Auction lot offered by Paul Leary, President of Blackbird Vineyards and its parent company, Bespoke Collection; Paul has been a consistent supporter of our auction. Blackbird has trained and mentored many young, enthusiastic wine stewards, and they openly embrace visitors.
This May, members of the Women’s Board journeyed to Brussels, Belgium to take in the sights and sounds of a city that has enchanted visitors for centuries. Ambassador Ronald J. Gidwitz and Mrs. Christina Gidwitz extended a warm welcome to Board members, who enjoyed visits to the Ambassador’s Residence
