What opera do you dream of seeing at Lyric?

Question

What opera do you dream of seeing at Lyric?

Answer

I'd love to see us take on Les vêpres siciliennes, a work of 1855 that Verdi composed for the Paris Opéra. It's magnificent musically and, if directed with imagination, it can be enthralling dramatically as well. The difficulties arise with casting the four major roles, and for that reason it isn't produced as often as those of us who admire it would like.
