Student Dress Rehearsals

The Student Dress Rehearsal Program immerses students in the magic of opera in its final stages of creation. Dress Rehearsals offer a unique opportunity for students to witness the artistic process, as performers, musicians, and technicians unite to create opera on a grand scale. Students will observe the details of staging, the power of vocal artistry, and the resonance of dramatic storytelling required to achieve theatrical excellence and bring a monumental production to life.

Student Dress Rehearsals are free, and available to school groups 6th-12th grade.

  • Teacher resources: Education materials will be available 4-6 weeks prior to the dress rehearsal date.
  • Bus scholarships: A limited number of bus scholarships are available for qualifying schools.
  • Content advisory: All productions may include mature content and themes.

In-school presentations

The Student Dress Rehearsal program offers Behind the Curtain — an in-school experience! Prior to attending the opera, a professional Lyric teaching artist visits the classroom to lead an engaging 45-minute session, introducing students to the storyline, key themes, musical highlights, and production elements they will soon experience in the opera house. Behind the Curtain is a complimentary program based on availability.
