Listen, learn, and be moved as DJ King Rico, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and co-creator of The Factotum, and Chicago DJ and music historian DJ Duane Powell explore the musical influences of this world premiere opera set on Chicago's South Side. The DJs will share about the history of Black voices in opera and the significance of The Factotum, a new soul opera helmed entirely by Black and BIPOC artists that merges classical voice with gospel, funk, hip-hop, and other traditionally Black musical styles. This event will close out with sets from both DJs to showcase the art form and get everyone moving!
