Internship title: Dramaturgy Intern
Time commitment: 14-21 hrs/week
Compensation: Although internships are unpaid, a $30 weekly travel stipend is offered


Brief description of duties:

  • Gather biographical material for program from management and/or artists;

  • Gather headshots and bios for program

  • Write program biographies

  • Assist with program galley distribution

  • Proofread each program galley and blueline

  • Collaborate with dramaturg in preparation of selected program articles

  • Collaborate with dramaturg in extensive photo research for program

  • Proofread surtitle scripts

  • Undertake selected research projects as needed

  • Attend media group and full department meetings


Required skills:

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Knowledge of opera highly desirable

  • Computer literacy is required, with an emphasis in Microsoft Suite

  • Pursuing degree in marketing, communications, business or related field

  • Interest in opera or the arts

  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro, Gmail, Photoshop, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office Suite
