Production Sponsorship

Lyric's world class productions are a major element in the City of Chicago’s standing as a world center for the performing arts, which in turn attracts new residents, invigorates tourism, and energizes economic development. Lyric presents grand operas, musicals, and one-night-only concerts of the highest international caliber, a capability in which direct production costs are underwritten by Production Sponsors. They provide the vital financial support for our entire range of work, including world and company premieres and new productions of classic and contemporary masterworks.

Production Sponsors include corporations, foundations and trusts, and individuals. Exclusive sponsorships of a production are available, but often a consortium of cosponsors is established to underwrite a production. In turn, the Sponsors enjoy enormous satisfaction and the opportunity for recognition as well. The opening night festivities around a production, with a dinner hosted by the Lyric’s General Director beforehand, the excitement of the production itself, and the private cast party thereafter create lasting memories for a Sponsor and friends, family, and clients.

Mainstage Artist Sponsorship

Champion a Lyric star

Super-fan. Fanatic. Devotee. Enthusiast. Do these words describe your relationship with an opera singer who has or will grace the Lyric stage? Why settle for seeing them through your opera glasses when you can join them for a meal? Begin an extraordinary journey behind the curtain when you champion your favorite singer by becoming their Mainstage Singer Sponsor.

Enjoy a private luncheon or dinner with your sponsored artist, and partake in select closed dress rehearsals, backstage visits and other artist-related activities. Become a part of your beloved artist's opera journey and know that your support made their appearances at Lyric possible.

Performance Sponsorship

As a patron, you have your own unique opera story. Perhaps your first date with your spouse was a performance of Turandot, or maybe your first opera was Madame Butterfly. What if you could celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or milestone event, or honor that very special person in your life by sponsoring a performance of that meaningful opera? Well, now you can!

The gift of performance sponsorship is the perfect way to commemorate any important milestone. As part of your sponsorship, you will receive an elegant dinner for two in the William B. & Catherine Graham Room, a trip backstage to visit with the cast after the opera, and recognition in the program, a keepsake to be cherished forever. The evening of your sponsored performance is sure to be an unforgettable evening which will create memories to last a lifetime.

Angel OPERA-tunities

For the first time, Lyric Opera of Chicago is offering you the chance to underwrite specific production elements during our 2018/19 opera season with our "Angel Opera-tunities". From the snow in La bohème, or the blood in Elektra, to Siegfried's Fafner dragon, you have ample choices to make your mark on the season. We want you to watch and know that your support is individually responsible for helping create these moments of magic.

Opera is a unique art form: a true amalgamation of nearly every medium, brought to life by great composers, visionary directors and designers, skilled artisans, and amazing singers and orchestral musicians. Each element comes together to create moments of pure exhilaration and memories that audiences will cherish for ages.
