Lyric Opera of Chicago names Tracy C. Galligher
associate director of marketing
Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that Tracy C. Galligher has been appointed associate director of marketing, reporting to Susan Mathieson Mayer, director of communications. Galligher begins in mid-October.
As part of the administrative team for the world-renowned opera company, Galligher will be a key player on the Lyric marketing team as it plans and executes a wide variety of marketing projects.
Galligher currently serves as director of marketing and communications for Opera Company of Philadelphia, a position she has held since 2005. She has been with the company since 1998, and previously held the positions of director of public relations, manager of marketing and public relations, and publicist there.
Over the past decade-plus, Galligher has directed the company’s marketing efforts, including developing a new brand identity for the company. Additionally, Galligher has worked to unify institutional messaging across a variety of platforms, including e-communications and social media. She led the development of the company’s new web identity focused on deepening community interaction, which successfully increased traffic and tripled social media sharing. She has been a key member of the executive management team in developing long-range initiatives to advance the company’s mission.
Among her select accomplishments, Galligher was responsible for execution and promotion of Opera Company of Philadelphia’s first citywide simulcast of a performance on Independence Mall in 2011, which drew more than 5,500 registrants for the season opening. She has led the viral distribution of the company’s “Random Acts of Culture” flash performances which have generated over 12 million views in two years on YouTube, including the 2010 “Hallelujah Chorus,” which garnered national media attention on CNN, Good Morning America, The Today Show, ABC World News, and others.
Galligher is a native of Philadelphia, and prior to joining Opera Company of Philadelphia, she was a marketing and public relations associate at San Diego Opera. She studied arts management during a yearlong Opera America fellowship, focusing on communications, marketing, and education while working with the major opera companies of San Francisco, San Diego, and Boston. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Philadelphia Cultural Fund and is an alumna of the National Arts Strategies Leadership program.
