Un/Settled: a panel discussion

In conjunction with upcoming performances of the opera An American Dream, Lyric Unlimited is proud to partner with University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration to bring you UN/SETTLED: A PANEL DISCUSSION.

A home. A vote. A voice. The American Dream. Throughout US history, achieving this dream has meant traversing not only a geographic landscape, but a political one. With the help of our panelists, we will explore the realities of immigration using stories, both recent and retold, to guide the way. For whom is the American Dream a reality and for whom is it merely a dream? Historians, artists, and policy experts will dissect the real life impacts of legislation governing the movements and access of ethnic minorities in America.

Panelists to include: Matthew Ozawa, director of An American Dream; Michael Takada, CEO of the Japanese American Service Committee; Angela Garcia, PhD, faculty at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration; Isaac Gomez, playwright; Lolly Bowean, reporter, Chicago Tribune, Moderator.

  • Location: University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration, 969 E. 60th St., Chicago.
