Thousands of subscribers have already renewed their subscriptions ahead of the April 1 renewal deadline, and new orders are coming in every day from those who are excited to experience Lyric’s upcoming season with all of the benefits of being a subscriber! Here are just a handful of great reasons to join Lyric in 2016/17:

1) New Flexibility: Subscribers enjoy FREE exchanges!

That’s right — as long as your exchange is completed more than five days before the performance you’re exchanging from, you can now enjoy fee-free exchanges from one performance of an opera to another when a scheduling conflict arises.

2) Build a package featuring exactly what you want to see.

Lyric has long offered over 20 custom series that feature fixed dates and fixed seat locations for many different combinations of titles. With free exchanges and the ability to customize your package with TRADEONE, which allows you to trade one show that is in your package for one that is not, Fixed-Seat Packages offer a great way to enjoy the opera.

In recent seasons, we’ve also offered another choice — Create Your Own subscriptions. You can choose any operas, any dates, and any location in the house, and still guarantee that you’ll have seats to the opera at a nice discount over single ticket prices. Create a package with four to eight shows, and get priority access for additional performances like My Fair Lady and Celebrating Plácido. Your seats will vary from show to show, but as a subscriber, we’ll make sure you get the best locations before remaining seats go on sale to the public.

And remember, being a subscriber means priority access to add special events that are only on sale to subscribers! Whether it's Plácido Domingo in concert, Itzhak Perlman in Recital, Lawrence Brownlee in Charlie Parker's Yardbird, the much-anticipated Chicago Voices Gala, or My Fair Lady, subscribers are guaranteed priority!

3) A season-long discount on additional tickets.

No matter what seats you want to buy — for any opera or musical performance — you can buy them at a discount. We’ll also send you occasional special offers for deep savings, because we value having you as part of our family and appreciate it when you introduce new audiences to and share your love for Lyric Opera.

4) Invitations to exclusive events!

On January 14, subscribers who joined us for our free 2016/17 Season Preview event were among the first to hear about our season — directly from General Director Anthony Freud and Music Director Sir Andrew Davis. This is just one of many events that Lyric subscribers are invited to first — being part of the Lyric family means having opportunities to get to know the art form you love and to mix and mingle with fellow opera lovers throughout the year.

5) Make a promise to yourself to attend great performances.

It’s a frequent concern — “I’m so busy.” We all say it — and hear it — all the time. But when you choose to put four to eight performances on your calendar, you’re more likely to plan around them and attend. Plus, you’ll know you’ve locked in your seats while you have the best choice of locations and before ticket prices go up as seat availability dwindles. Beat the stress, and promise yourself great musical moments and unforgettable theater in the new season when you subscribe today!
