Susan Miller Hult has been an Assistant Conductor and Prompter at the Lyric Opera of Chicago for 22 seasons, the Bayreuth Festival in Germany for 4 summers of James Levine's Ring Cycle, and in 2011 the San Francisco Opera's Ring Cycle. She toured with Seiji Ozawa's Hennessey Spring Opera in Japan for 5 seasons. She was a member of the music staff of the San Francisco Opera for 5 years. She has coached the University of Iowa summer operas, and had a busy coaching and accompanying studio in New York.
She trained as an opera coach and prompter through the Merola Program of the San Francisco Opera Center. After receiving her Master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, she studied privately at the Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera. Her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance with minors in Organ and French was received from Southern Methodist University
