DIRECTIONS TO THE CIVIC OPERA HOUSE
The Civic Opera House is located at 20 N. Wacker Drive (the theatre entrance is at the northwest corner of Madison Street and Wacker Drive).
Construction Update (as of January 2012)
Construction continues on the upper and lower levels of North/South Wacker Drive. Please be aware that the project will affect traffic on Wacker Drive, and on other Loop streets as well.
The construction on the Congress Parkway Interchange (Congress and Wacker Drive) is in progress. Presently, the entrance and exit ramps from Congress Parkway to Wacker Drive are closed.
Before traveling to the opera house, please look over the attached map. Check the City of Chicago's website for most recent closures, and check Lyric's website.
1) Madison (one-way westbound) and Washington (one-way eastbound) are now open to vehicular traffic and to pedestrians.
2) Lower Wacker Drive parking garages are still open. Please check the city's website for access. However—access to Lower Wacker from Congress Parkway/I-290 or Harrison remains closed.
3) Franklin Street remains open to 2-way traffic from Wacker Drive on the north to Van Buren Street on the south.
NEW:
• Madison is now open to all traffic.
• Wacker Drive is now open to all traffic between Washington and Madison.
• Wacker Drive from Madison to Monroe Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.
ON FOOT
Pedestrians will have easy access to the Civic Opera House and the 20 N. Wacker Building entrance. Just follow the signs! Take Washington Street to the west sidewalk on Wacker Drive and proceed south for access to the Civic Opera House. From the south and west, please take the Riverside Plaza to Madison Street and cross the river using the sidewalk on the north side of the Lyric Opera Bridge (Madison Street Bridge). Access to the Madison Bridge over the River is only available from the east or from Riverside Plaza from the west. Please remember, there is no bridge access from Canal Street. View the map. BY TRAIN
The Civic Opera House is conveniently located near both Union Station and the Richard Ogilvie Transportation Center (formerly Northwestern Station). Union Station is bound by the following streets: Clinton (west); Canal (east); Jackson (south); and Adams (north). The Ogilvie Transportation Center is bound by the following streets: Clinton (west); Canal (east); Madison (south)/ main entrance; and Washington (north). BY CAR
Because of the Wacker Drive closure from Madison to Monroe and the closure at the Congress Parkway interchange, the following routes are suggested for driving to the Opera House.
• If you drive on Interstate 290 (Eisenhower) or Interstate 55 (Stevenson) toward the
Loop, exit at 90/94 (north). Exit from 90/94 at Washington Street (east). Proceed 5 blocks east on Washington Street to Wacker Drive. The Civic Opera House is one block ahead on the right (corner of Madison Street and Wacker Drive). Please check the map for parking lots around the area.
• If you take Interstate 90/94 (Dan Ryan) toward the Loop, exit at Washington Street
(east). Proceed 5 blocks east on Washington Street to Wacker Drive. The Civic Opera House is one block ahead on the right (corner of Madison Street and Wacker Drive). Please check the map for parking lots around the area.
• If you take Interstate 90/94 (Kennedy Expressway from O'Hare) toward the Loop,
exit at Washington Street (east). Proceed 5 blocks east on Washington Street to Wacker Drive. The entrance to the Civic Opera House is one block ahead on the right (corner of Madison Street and Wacker Drive). Please check the map for parking lots around the area.
PARKING AND PASSENGER DROP-OFF
See the enclosed map for the location of easily-accessible parking. Vehicles dropping off passengers with accessibility needs should approach the Opera House from westbound Madison Street or from the north on Wacker Drive (see map ).
Lyric's valet parking will remain on Wacker Drive on Wacker Drive in front of Civic Opera House. LOOK FOR SIGNS. For other parking locations, please see the map.

Reserve your valet parking ahead of time at ParkWhiz.com. Valet parking is available beginning at 5:00 p.m. on performance evenings, regardless of curtain time. For Saturday/Sunday matinees valet parking is available at noon. Cost is $20.
We regret valet parking is not available for patrons attending weekday dress rehearsals or weekday matinees performances.
