A free concert under the stars brings music lovers together.

 

For 60 years, Lyric has been creating thrilling experiences for opera lovers from Chicago and all over the world. In the 2014/15 season, we’re pulling out all of the stops to celebrate this milestone anniversary!

Each September, Chicago’s music lovers come out to experience The Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park, a free concert under the stars. On Saturday, September 6, pack your picnic basket and bring your friends to enjoy a performance that signals the start of another thrilling opera season. Featuring some of Lyric’s most acclaimed voices with the Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Millennium Park concert is sure to whet your appetite for the much-anticipated September 27 Opening Night of Don Giovanni with a thrilling operatic program!

On Saturday, November 1st, Lyric presents the 60th Anniversary Concert at the Civic Opera House, which will bring together many of the most beloved artists of Lyric’s past, present and future together for one magical evening. Sir Andrew Davis leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus, members of the Ryan Opera Center, and a luminary cast including Renée Fleming and jazz legend Ramsey Lewis, Susan Graham, Ana María Martínez, Sondra Radvanovsky, Johan Botha, Eric Owens, and Samuel Ramey returning to the Lyric stage.  Preferred concert seating is on sale now, with individual tickets on sale July 1.

The dazzling Diamond Ball takes place at the Hilton Chicago immediately following the concert. Transportation, dining and dancing to the Alex Donner Orchestra are available through Jewel Patron packages. The 60th Anniversary Concert and Diamond Ball offer a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Lyric!

It’s a Chicago tradition, and on Saturday, February 7, 2015, grand opera, fine wine, and philanthropy once again combine for the unforgettably glamorous Wine Auction 2015. This elaborate event takes place on stage at the Civic Opera House, and has been recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the “Top Ten Charity Wine Auctions.” Orchestrated by the remarkable Women’s Board, this event features M. David Launay from the historical Château Gruaud Larose as our honored guest. We look forward to introducing more than 500 international wine collectors, civic leaders, wine and food enthusiasts, as well as members of the press to a dazzling array of carefully selected wines, luxury items and exquisite travel packages.
