Second-year tenor Jesse Donner completed graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Michigan, where he was heard as Bacchus/Ariadne auf Naxos, title role/Der Kaiser von Atlantis, and Lucano/L'incoronazione di Poppea. A former baritone, Donner also holds a bachelor of music degree from Iowa State University. The Des Moines, Iowa, native received the 2014 George Shirley Award for Opera Performance, a special encouragement award from the 2014 Metropolitan Opera National Council Regional Auditions, and first place in the 2012 Michigan Friends of Opera Competition. Other performing credits include his debut with Opera in the Ozarks (Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly) and concert appearances with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Toledo Symphony, Adrian Symphony, and University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Donner appeared in Capriccio and Tannhäuser (Walther) during Lyric Opera of Chicago's 2014-15 season. This upcoming season at Lyric he is featured in Nabucco and Der Rosenkavalier.
