A first-year Ryan Opera Center member, tenor Adam Bonanni is a native of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He recently appeared at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall with Mannes College/The New School for Music's Liszt Festival. Previously he made his Carnegie Hall debut as tenor soloist in Handel's Messiah with the St. Cecilia Chorus and was heard in concert at the SongFest music festival (Cincinnati) with pianist Martin Katz. In the spring of 2013 Bonanni completed graduate studies at Mannes College, where he was featured as Bardolfo/Falstaff, Don Ottavio/Don Giovanni, and Dorvil/Rossini's La scala di seta. The prior summer he portrayed Arturo/Lucia di Lammermoor at Chautauqua Opera. The tenor has won awards from the Opera Index Vocal Competition (2011 and 2012), the Gerda Lissner Vocal Competition, the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation Vocal Competition (2012) and the Giulio Gari Foundation Vocal Competition (2012). Other honors include the Michael Sisca Opera Award (2011). Bonanni was a featured soloist at both the Ravinia Festival and Grant Park Music Festival this past summer and appears in the 2013-14 season at Lyric Opera of Chicago in Parsifal (debut) and La traviata.
