Ryan Opera Center Announces 2013/14 Ensemble

Announces the Singers Selected
For its 2013-2014 Ensemble
Five talented young singers join five second- and third-year ensemble members

Gianna Rolandi, director of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, is pleased to announce that soprano Laura Wilde, mezzo-soprano Julie Anne Miller, tenor Adam Bonanni, baritone Anthony Evans, and bass-baritone Richard Ollarsaba have been accepted into the prestigious program beginning April 29, 2013.

The new singers will join current Ryan Opera Center sopranos Emily Birsan and Tracy Cantin, mezzo-soprano J’nai Bridges, tenor John Irvin, and baritone Will Liverman to make up the Ryan Opera Center’s 2013-2014 artistic roster. The 2013-2014 ensemble members are natives of Georgia, Arizona, California, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Prince Edward Island (Canada), South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Current Ryan Opera Center members who will depart after the 2012-2013 season are soprano Kiri Deonarine, mezzo-soprano Cecelia Hall, tenor Bernard Holcomb, baritone Joseph Lim, bass-baritone David Govertsen, and bass Evan Boyer.

Each year The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, the professional artist-development program of Lyric Opera of Chicago, selects gifted young singers from some 400 applicants. Soon after arriving at Lyric in the spring, incoming Ryan Opera Center members begin an intensive full-year residency under the guidance of Gianna Rolandi and numerous other opera professionals.

Coaching sessions and master classes are augmented by performance and understudy experience in Lyric Opera’s regular season productions as well as other Ryan Opera Center concerts and recitals.(Until September 2006, the program was known as the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists.)
