The Lyric Opera of Chicago Broadcasts kick off the 2013-14 season on Sat., Sept. 7 with the live broadcast of the “Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park” free concert on 98.7WFMT and www.wfmt.com.  The classical station’s program director and “Through the Night” host Peter Van de Graaff and Lyric’s dramaturg Roger Pines will serve as host and commentator respectively of this season’s Lyric Opera of Chicago Braodcasts.

The free preseason concert and eight operas of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s 59th season will be carried live on 98.7WFMT and www.wfmt.com. The Sept. 7 broadcast begins at 7:15pm and the concert begins at 7:30pm.

The eight operas in Lyric’s 2013-14 season are being broadcast live on their opening performances. Van de Graaff and Pines will anchor the opera broadcasts, which start with live commentary and recorded interviews at the times shown below.

The eight mainstage operas will be rebroadcast on consecutive Saturdays in May and June of 2014 (specific dates to be announced).
