Be there for Lyric's International Ring Symposium! Three of the world's most acclaimed Wagner interpreters—James Morris, Jane Eaglen, and John Treleaven—discuss "Family Values in Valhalla": psychological and musical insights into opera's most famous dysfunctional family. Lyric dramaturg Roger Pines moderates.
Additional panel topics include the musicological and historical background of the Ring, and the fascinating production history of this monumental work.
Featured panelists are stage director Herbert Kellner, who collaborated closely with the late August Everding on his concepts and direction of the Ring, plus three renowned authors and speakers, each with special areas of Wagner expertise: The University of Chicago's David Levin (Germanic Studies and Cinema/Media Studies), Indiana University's Marc Weiner (Institute of German Studies), and the University of California, Santa Barbara's Simon Williams (Professor and Chair of Dramatic Art).
