COMMUNITY LECTURES
Hundreds of free lectures about Lyric's current operas are presented every season in dozens of locations all over the Chicago area by Lyric's talented and dedicated Lecture Corps. Call the location nearest you for dates and times. Click here for COMMUNITY LECTURE SITES.
Every season, the dress rehearsal of one of Lyric's productions is opened to low–income seniors living in Chicago. Admission is free of charge, but tickets are required. Tickets are distributed via a lottery held by the Chicago Department on Aging, which also provides affordable transportation. It's a wonderful opportunity for seniors who would otherwise never get to the opera to see a full–scale Lyric production. Free refreshments are served at intermission! Interested seniors can contact the Chicago Department on Aging (312-742-3295) in July for details on the following season's program.
The Senior Matinee is generously sponsored by The Clinton Family Fund, Benjamin B. Green-Field Foundation, Lannan Foundation, The Retirement Research Foundation and The Siragusa Foundation.
